The new managing director of Jyväskylä Regional Development Company Jykes Ltd is Risto Jämsén. He says that the region will achieve success in the future through hard work and confidence in its own strengths.
Jämsén, who took up his position in March 2009, points out that the region already has strong Finnish and international companies in the metal and engineering sectors, for instance. Future success stories will be found in such areas as the ICT, wellness and service sectors. "Jyväskylä needs more Finnish and international brand-name companies," Jämsén states.
Before his appointment to head Jykes Ltd., Jämsén spent almost 20 years with confectionery manufacturer Panda. His roles within the company included Marketing Director, Deputy Managing Director and Managing Director. He has been closely involved in international networks in both Europe and the USA. As Managing Director of Jykes, Jämsén will be responsible for the company's operative and strategic management, as well as implementation of regional business development policy.
