The second full-length film from Jyväskylä-based Coppersky Oy will be premiered this year. The Messenger is a drama/thriller in which the son of a history professor starts to investigate his fathers past and other hushed-up matters. The film was shot in the Jyväskylä Region and the university milieu forms one of the main settings for the action.
According to director Timo Puustinen the film will feature at the Athenis Finlandiae event. The films theme suits the event just perfectly, because in the film old writings, books and mythologies play an important role. The film will be subtitled in Latin and English. We may also produce a DVD version with a cover in Latin.
Coppersky is a media-branch business with a finger in many pies. The companys largest customers are Central Finland enterprises as well as film industry production companies for which Coppersky conducts the product marketing of films. Among other things Coppersky produced all the graphic material and still pictures for the film Matti, the story of Finnish ski jumping legend Matti Nykänen. A graphics package for Renny Harlins film about Marshal Mannerheim is in progress.
Last year the company branched out into the production of music videos. Also new is the production of TV advertisements.
Content production, scriptwriting and stories are our strengths. A TV advertisement can also be given a proper storyline, even though were concerned with advertising a product, Timo Puustinen points out.
The new film, The Messenger, constitutes an important milestone for the four year old company, because the success it enjoys will have a considerable influence on the firms future. According to Puustinen the script for the next film, Snow Angel, is already virtually complete. Our aim, after Snow Angel, is to concentrate solely on making full-length films. We would also like to build a film industry in Central Finland. Weve already brought a number of productions to the region, but the foundations need to be laid carefully and quietly.
