Set up in 1978, the Jyväskylä Centre for Printmaking is a
municipal unit affording artists, mainly professionals proper, functional and inexpensive facilities for work.
To serve artists' needs for further education, various courses and workshops related to the artform are arranged here every year.
In its own field, the centre is also dedicated to creating and promoting international contacts.
Another major concern in to serve nonprofessionals: guided by trained artists, they have the possibility of studying and trying out
various techniques.
As regard the general public, The Centre for Printmaking aims at increasing its knowledge of and insight into the art of printmaking.
This is done, for example, by arranging changing print exhibitions at the Galleria Harmonia, which present works by Finnish and foreign printmakers.
The Centre for Printmaking is situated in the Halonen building in the centre of the town.
The Centre for Creative Photography
, which organizes the photography exhibitions at the Galleria Harmonia, is situated in the same building.
