ALVAR AALTO'S EXPERIMENTAL HOUSE IN MUURATSALO

The experimental house in Muuratsalo is a summerhouse, which Alvar Aalto
constructed for himself in 1953. The house was influenced by atriumarchitecture.
Alvar Aalto tested in his experimental house different proportions, materials
and shapes.

The house is built on a beautiful cliff by the Lake Päijänne,
but it's also in the cover of the forest.

In addition the main building there is also a smokesauna and Alvar
Aalto's boat "Nemo propheta in patria".
In autumn 1998 the boat got a new shelter,
which was constructed according to international designing contest.
The experimental house now is part of Alvar Aalto foundation. The house
is being shown for groups in summertime. Contact information: ALVAR AALTO
