ALVAR AALTO'S EXPERIMENTAL HOUSE IN MUURATSALO


The experimental house in Muuratsalo is a summerhouse, which Alvar Aalto constructed for himself in 1953. The house was influenced by atriumarchitecture. Alvar Aalto tested in his experimental house different proportions, materials and shapes.


The house is built on a beautiful cliff by the Lake Päijänne, but it's also in the cover of the forest.


In addition the main building there is also a smokesauna and Alvar Aalto's boat "Nemo propheta in patria".

In autumn 1998 the boat got a new shelter, which was constructed according to international designing contest.
