The Immigrant Services helps immigrants in their adjustment to Finnish society and supports the preservation of their own cultural identity. It also seeks to promote the development of our society into a multi-cultural community accepting diversity.

We serve

• foreigners living in Jyväskylä: immigrants, remigrants and refugees
• all those interested in alien affairs
• different cooperation quarters

Information office

The Information Office is open Monday through Friday, from 8. a.m. to 4 p.m. Tel. (014) 626 675.

The immigrant can receive guidance and advise without making an appointment in all problem situations arising in the new society.

The Information Office also manages the appointment for workers.

Services provided by the Immigrant Services include

• guidance and advise for immigrants
• social welfare work for immigrants
• cooperation with different agencies in organizing immigrant services
• organization of refugee and remigrant reception
• education, consultation and information about alien affairs

The Immigrant Services supplies social welfare work needed by refugees for a period of 1-2 years from immigration and for remigrants until the customer finds a permanent residence. The social welfare work for other foreigners is supplied according to the demands of each situation.

The trained community workers instruct immigrants in various practical matters. In difficult family situations the community workers support the family by methods of enchanced family work.

The Immigrant Services also advises and helps in the matters related to the unification of families and gives citizenship statements.
