The light fittings for Säynätsalo Town Hall were made by Orno. A whole host of different light fittings were designed for the buildings of Aalto’s redbrick period, some of which later became established as part of the Artek range. The thing these fittings have in common is that they are made up of different lamella which reflect the light. They are made either of brass or white stove-enamelled metal. Incandescent lamps, which give a warm light, were used in the fittings as, according to Aalto, they were the next best thing to candles when specifying artificial light. This type of fitting is related to the exterior light fittings used at the main entrance of Helsinki University of Technology.
